Among all varieties, GRASA DE COTNARI has the noblest and \"sweetest\" resonance amidst wine consumers in Romania and abroad. The color of the young wine is yellow with greenish reflexes,resembling the autumn color of leaves in the tempting labyrinth of the vineyard. The aroma, greatly due to substances produced by noble rot, reminds one of that of dry apricots or bee wax. The complex taste seems to be made of walnut pulp combined with the sweetness of raisins and a rich nuance of sweet almonds. The great wine GRASA DE COTNARI is so successful that it was compared with the thoroughbred Arab horse. Besides the composure of the Arab horse, GRASA DE COTNARI also has the elegance of the English thoroughbred horse, but also, when drunk excessively, the quality of making one feeling heavy feet, like the German traction horse. \"This noble wine is His Majesty\'s drink; as any expensive thing, it does not befit excesses; its consumption must fulfill the powers of the mind and the virtue of the body\" - Mihail Sadoveanu, 1936. The grapes from which this wine is obtained are named \"Grasa de Cotnari\". In Cotnari, this grape variety frequently accumulates 300 grams of sugar per must liter, from which result a wine of minimum 12.00% alcohol and approximately 80 grams of sugar per liter. The maximum admitted grape production is of 6 tons per hectare. \"Grasa de Cotnari\" is part of the origin-controlled and quality-step category of wines; the grapes can be picked late in the season, upon their becoming noble or their drying up. The maturation is made in underground cellars, in oak barrels, after which the wine is left to get old in vintage cellars, in glass bottles. The castle of the Cotnari Blanc King on the label and hood and the name of COTNARI on the cork certify the authenticity of this product.
